Hey peeps! I'm making a thing! ... Again.
Fourth time's the charm?
Super Cyberoid is a comic set in a completed file of a fictional mid-90s game of the same name. Luka, the protagonist and player character, defeats the final boss in the comic's first panel, and things roll from there.
The idea popped into my head a few months ago, and I drew up some concepts of a protagonist who was a mashup of various other video game heroes. Before I knew it I had a plot and cast bouncing around in there. Now I can't stop thinking about it so I guess we'll see where this goes!
It'll update 3 times a week, unless I feel brave and zealous enough to kick it up to 5 strips weekly. Historically, my zeal for comicking has expired too quickly to tell much of a story, so I'm going to take it easy on myself.
You might notice I'm drawing with a binary brush; as rough as it looks, I feel like it serves the theme, makes everything look more digital. In fact, I'm going to do this thing entirely with flat colours and pixels. No CG gradients, no blending or anti-aliasing, no varying opacity; everything is going to be done flat. I use CG colour/effects a lot in my art, so let's see if I can run a series without and still make it look good.
I've been spending time playing with the format and style, while I build up a decent buffer. When it launches, I may post the first chapter here on DA, or maybe just the first strip. Either way, I'll link to the comic site when it starts. I wanted to launch this month, but a lot has come up so it may have to wait for early March.
